OPERAS TO BE FILMED. IN NEW COLOUR PROCESS. Jock Whitney, the young American millionaire, has gone into the film business. His newly-formed oompany, Pioneer Pictures, are negotiating to produce Gilbert and Sullivan operas in colour. The idea is to engage the whole D’Oyly Carte company which happens at the moment to be touring America. The particular operas under survey are “H.M.S. Pinafore,’’ “Yeoman of the Guard,” “The Mikado,’’ and “The Gondoliers.”
