A “heat wave’’ struck Little America to-day, the temperature reaching 37 degrees above zero. An unseasonable thaw started the ice in the Bay of Whales moving seaward and seals vanished deeper into the ice paok to avoid the killer whales which roam the cold waters in the packs. According 'to a wireless message to the camp, the tractor and sledging parties met on December 16 on a plateau in Scotland, 150 miles to the eastward. They are proceeding to the camp together.
