CROQUET.

HAWKEN VASE. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Hamilton Croquet Club’s lawns on Saturday, when the members of the Cambridge Club met the members of the Hamilton Club In the final match for the above trophy. This trophy was presented to the two clulis for competition flve years ago by Mrs S. R. Ilawken, of Hamilton, and the games for the past seasons have all been keenly contested and very much enjoyed. The Hamilton Club was successful in securing the trophy as its property, having won it for three seasons out of five-

The visiting teams were:—Mesdames Hall and Hardy; Watt and Bell: Short and Holmes; while tile players on the home green were Mesdames Ilawken and Dillicar; Totman and Henderson; Bennett and Gittos. The final score for this season’s play was Cambridge (104, Hamilton 700.

During the afternoon a dainty afternoon tea was served by the Hamilton ladies, the tables being prettily decorated for the occasion with the club’s colours, blue and white, and choice sweet peas.

On the close of play Mrs Hall, president of life Cambridge Club, was presented with a bouquet of stocks by Mrs Totman on behalf of the members of the Hamilton Club. - Mrs Hail thanked the members of the Hamilton Club for a most enjoyable day, and then presented the vase lo Mrs Totman, wishing the club every success.

Mrs Totman and Mrs Ilawken, vicepresidents, suitably replied, Uic function ending with cheers for both clubs.
