LOCAL JOTTINGS. ACTIVITIES AT TE RAPA. With the long spell of favourable 'weather for flying a large number of hours have been recorded at the Te Rapa aerodrome. The instructor Flight Lieutenant W. H. 'Lett 'has been kept very busy giving instruction to local pupils this week and did not visit the other centres. Club pilots have done a fair amount of flying- this wetk though only one cross-couuntry trip was undertaken. (Last Saturday morning Dr. M. M. Hockin tlew Z.K.—A.C.C. to Auckland and back again. He brought his father back with him to play in the parents v. pupils cricket match at Southwell School. As the Doctor’s son, Campbell was playing in the School team and both Dr. Hockin and his father played for the Parent’s team, three generations were represented in the one match. Three planes’visited Te Rapa during the week, all machines coming from Auckland. On Wednesday Mr F. B. Cadman with a passenger in Z.K.—A.a;t. and Mr R. Ferris, solo, in 'Z.K. —-A.D.'G., flew from Mangere to Te Rapa and back again, while on Thursday Mr M. Kew made the same trip in Z.K.—A.D.G. There has only- been one machine available at Te Rapa for the past day or so as the ground engineer, .Mr T. Sheehan has been giving A.C.K. a complete engine overhaul. He hopes to have the machine ready by the week-end. Messrs Monteith and Parker have made a new nose cowling for A.C.C. and they made a great job of it. Mr Sheehan has been successful In gaining his 8., D., and X licenses for ground engineers, The examinations were held in a few weeks ago, Mr Sheehan going down there to Jt. He now has his ground engineers A., 8., C., D., and X. licenses as well as his A pilot’s license. The club extends heartiest congratulations and the members know that the success is well merited. The new club house has been in constant use and has proved a great boon. The' furnishings are gradually being improved and the room now looks very cosy. Recently a club member presented the club with a Chesterfield ■ suite, while another member generously donated an easi chair.
