MR J. H. THOMAS’ COMMENTS
'United Press assn— Elec. Tel. Copyright CRece ved Dec. 3, 2.30 p.m.) U LONDON, Dec. 2.
“ I adhere to every word uttered in the House of Commons,;’ declared Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary Oa state toi the Dominions), at the British Lesion dinner at Derby, commenting on Mr De Valera’s Citizenship Bill. “ Th» bill cannot deprive anyone or British "nationality, which is based on allegiance to the Crown. This is a much wider conception than citizenship of any particular part of the British Commonwealth of Nations. Nobody questions the Free State s right to define its own citizens, but that is different from depriving anyone of British status.
“ Mr De Valera has forgotten the declaration of the Imperial Conference of 1930, to which he Is a party.”
