MINING COMPANIES. OFFICIAL REPORTS'. The Mataki Gold Dredging Company, Limited drecigemasier reports .under date, November 25: “During the week ending the 25th inst. the dredge worked for 1314 hours for a return of 20 ounces 12 dwt. 5 grns. We pulled ahead 42ft. in ground the average depth of which was lift. The ienglh of the face at present is 363 ft. I opened out a good deal in the river lifting all bottom and . sand. This, however, is absolutely necessary as I want to be right across the river for the beach which we will strike within two to three chains. The ground has now started to dip right across the inside -cut; this will mean better dredging and will increase the yardage.” The report of the Big River Gold . Mines, Limited, for the week ending November 29, 1934, is as follows: —No. 3 crosscut: Distance driven 5 feet; slate country now in the face. No. 4 North Drive: Total driven on reef 62 feet; reef strong in face and 5 feet wide; more gold visible this week; the second stope is now broken out and looks well. No. 4 South Drive: Total, distance driven 42 feet; the reef is now 7 feet wide; gold is frequently seen. Battery: The battery is crushing one shift per day Ibis week, but if rain does not come will be again held up.
