TRIUMPH for steam. ENGLISH OFFICIALS’ CLAIM. (Received Dec. 1, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. With regard to the trip of the < Flying Scotsman from London to Leeds, tiie London and North Eastern Company officials claim that it proved that the steam engine can beat the German oilburner, considering the latter’s run on a flat track while the LondonLeeds line has gradients up to 1 in 100 with -severe speed restrictions in some places.
