CHURCH OF CHRIST.

SUNDAY BCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. There were large attendances at. the Church of Christ yesterday for the celebration of the twenty-third anniversary of the Sunday School in the present building. The children tilled the special staging occupying one end of the church, which was decorated with blue and gold flowers, the school colours.

Mr F. 'Cooney and Miss Nona Pollard led the musical part of the services, and the children gave a fine rendering of their special anniversary hymns. Pastor Campbell, of Auckland, gave the addresses, In the afternoon taking for his subject at the children’s service, “Shining for the Lord." . There was a crowded church in the evening, when Pastor Campbell gave a powerful address on “God, how may we know Him," poinling out that whatever are the varying theories of man concerning the creation of the world, the Infallible Word declares—“ln the ‘beginning’ God.” The speaker went on to say that tiic majority o£ people do not seek God, ns obedience to'Him would interfere with modes of life, which are at variance with Ilis will; but God seeks men to obey Him. The only sources whereby we may find and know God are His Word and Christ whom He has sent.

Mr F. Phillips, the superintendent, presided at. the afternoon meeting. The anniversary celebrations are to be concluded at the prize-giving and concert on Tuesday evening. '
