MEETING OF COUNCIL. V'■ ” . ■ The Mayor, Mr R. 'Coulter, presided at the meeting: or the Te Aroha Borough Council on Wednesday evening, Crs G'. Hedge, D. McMahon, V. G. Hamilton, W. E. Smith, H. Pease, W. T l . Dale and L Grice also being present. A vote of condolence was passed with Mr A. 'Spence and ramlly. The manager of the Municipal Abattoir reported Tor the month that 06 large cattle, 256 sheep, 5 lambs had been slaughtered, the rees totalling £92 19s 3d. r Permission was granted to the Te Aroha Cricket Club to use Herrles Park on November 3rd., 10th., 17th., and 24th. The Te Aroha Amusement Company applied Tor permission to screen suitable pictures on Christmas Day.—'The application was granted, under certain conditions. The application rrom a property owner ror the cancellation or. three years’ rates, consSquent upon the recent death or her husband, was granted. Conference Regarding Unemployment. A letter was read from the Temuka Borough Council stating that no rurther action would be taken In regard to holding a conrerence or borough councils to consider unemployment matters. There were 70 In ravour or the proposition, but or these only 24 had appointed delegates. Those against numbered 92. ■Correspondence was received rrom the Hamilton Borough iCouncll giving Tull details or the heavy traffic pool, to be divided between local bodies, the Te Aroha borough amount being £9B 15s Bd. The Young New Zealand 'League-wrote that arrangements were being made for a big contingent or school boys to visit Wellington and Auckland in connection with the tour or the Duke of Gloucester and suggesting that the council might facilitate the matter or a good representation from Te Aroha district. It Is considered certain that the 1 district will be well represented. Flnanoe. The credit balance at the bank was reported at £1062 3s Id. Accounts totalling £1923 17s 7d were passed for payment.
