GUILTY OF THEFT.
RELIEF WORKER CONVICTED. ONE MONTH’S IMPRISONMENT. (By Tel. —Special to TlmesA TE KUITI, Tuesday. In the Justices Court to-day, before Messsrs. T. Carroll and \V. S. Cato, William Brand, a relief worker, married with five children, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for theft of two motor wheels, the property of Darby Brothers, Arainatai. •On a separate charge of the theft of a jack at Pio Pio, the property of Hodson’s Motors, accused was convicted and discharged. Accused told the 'Court that he was earning £1 5s lid in relief wages, which was insufficient to keep his family. He took the goods to provide food.
Sergeant Payne intimated that accused was known to the police, and his statements were not correct.
