MAGISTRATE APPROACHED
“A MOST IMPROPER THING.” APOLOGY BY LITIGANT. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. Before the commencement of a speoial sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Opunake on Friday, Mr W. H. AVoodwnrd, S.M., stated that at the last sitting of the Court, before he knew of impending litigation, a person had spoken to him outside the Court and had endeavoured to ingratiate himself with the magistrate, who had not known at the time that the man was one of the litigants. Mr Woodward said that was a most improper thing to do and had he known the person was a litigant he would not have allowed himself to be so spoken to. Mr A. K. North, counsel for one of the parties, expressed regret for the occurrence. He said he would have something to say to the person concerned. When the litigant concerned was called to give evidence in the oase he at. once apologised to the magistrate, who accepted the apology with the remark that the indiscretion was probably tho result of Ignorance.
