SOWING LAWNS

ROTARY CLUB ADDRESS. A practical address on the correct sowing of lawns was given by Mr W. M, Horton at the weekly luncheon of Hie Hamilton Rotary Club to-day. The president, Mr J. S. Prentice, presided. The usual mistake made in preparation, Mr Horton stated, was to apply lime, which was not needed to any great extent in most of the Waikato soils. However, a good physical condition of the soil was necessary and the soil required considerable cultivation before sowing took place. Air Horton dealt with the requirements for fertiliser and stressed the necessity for using a pure seed. Turf diseases' required attention and Iho speaker expressed Ihc opinion that fully 08 per cent, of the grass troubles were caused through this agency. Inadequate fertilising probably accounted for the remaining troubles. A vote of thanks was accorded Air Horton for his address.
