BOXING AFFAIRS.
REFEREES APPOINTED. LIGHT-WEIGHT TITLE VACANT. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The referees and judges to offloiate at the New Zealand amateur boxing championships at Hastings next week were appointed at a meeting of the Boxing Council last night. The referees will be Messrs J. D. Donovan (Hastings) and J. Kilmartin (Otago). The judges will be Messrs G. Bush (Auckland)', T. A. Heath (Napier) and A. J. McArtney and A. F. Fyffe (Southland).
For the test match between the Australian and New Zealand amateurs at Invercargill, Air A. Tall will bo r.eferee. Mr W. McLean will officiate at Auckland, and the Wellington referoc will act in the Australians’ contest at Wellington. The council, in Hie course of olher busihess lasi night, declared llio New Zealand professional light-weight title vacant, owing to l lie holder, J. Franklyn, having contravened the rules hy demanding a set sum for a championship contest, win, lose or draw. 11 was decided that the bout between CJ Itayner and A. Hughes at Blenheim next Saturday should he for the light-weight title. RAYNER BEATB DAL 008 TA. DUNEDIN, Sunday.
