BUILDING ADDITIONS
RAILWAY IMPROVEMENTS. WORK AT FRANKTON. Steady progress is being made with the building programme at the locomotive depot at the Frankton railway yards, and new work to provide-addi-iional accommodation for various branches of the department is now in hand. Extensions lo (he locomotive sheds have been completed, and arc In use, while a forward stage has been reached with Hie erection of a new fitting shop adjoining Hie main sheds. A start lias been made with the foundations for a store, while it. is probable that more commodious oflleo accommodation will lie provided in the near future, for the clerical staff of the locomotive branch. The building scheme is designed lo bring the facilities al Frankton lo a standard in keeping with the size and importance of the station. For several years there has been an increasing need for the work which is now in hand, and Ihe completed programme should assist materially in Hie more efficient working of the locomotive j*l nnnf.
