The Te Aroha Aero Club lias received a communication from -Miss Jean Batten stating that after her tour of the North Island she intends to rest in Wellington berora leaving for Rotorua, whence she will visit Te Aroha about the end or August. In the indoor bowling competition the Te Aroha Druids defeated the Thames Lodge on Thursday evening, the results being as rollows, the visitors being mentioned first: Cordcs, Hayes, Lipzwate'r and A Kennedy, lost to Barclay, J. I-teathcote, G - Dentil and Mrs Redrern, IG—3O: Williams, Miller, Gibh and W. Kennedy lost to Redrern, Tapp, Beagley and Mrs Death, —io; Rhodes, Jack. Shaw and Knox beat P. Ileathcote. B. Russell, G. Devereii and Miss Parker, 19 —10. Unemployment Committee. Mr R. Coulter presided at the fortnishtlv meeting or the local Unemployment ‘committee. During the past week there were six new registrations, while four men lmd been removed rrom the register leaving tlio number at 90. Tlie chairman stated that roller men wero now receiving the benefit or the -second Increase in the rate or allocation granted recently by the Unemployment Board. Basketball. The final or the second round or the To \roha basketball tournament resulted in a win lor High School A. Following wero the results: High School A beat convent n i 4 ii; Eistow beat Old Pupils, 0—1; Manawaru B boat High School B, S -6; To Punlnga B beat High School C, 14—8. A seven- a-side tournament next week will conclude the season. The points gained by each team In the second round were: High School A 12, Convent B 9; Eistow 8.
