Mr. Angus Mitchell, governor of the 65th Rotary district, Australia, arrived in Auckland to-day.
Mr T. Lisle, of Wellington, has been appointed official organiser for the New Zealand Legion.
Mr Byron Brown has been appointed judge of the elocutionary section at the Napier competitions, to be held next Easter.
A unanimous decision to extend a call to the Rev. A. Bryan Kilroy, minister of St. Paul’s Church, Oamaru, was made by the annual meeting of the congregation of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, at Wellington.
Messrs C. G. Rigby and ,T. D. Finnigan, wage-tax and unemployment tax inspectors respectively of the Unemployment Board, are visiting Hamilton in the course of their official duties.
Acting upon medical advice, Mr 11. C. Cornforth, of Melbourne, is retiring from the position of chairman and managing-director of Hie Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Limited, operating in Australia and New Zeaalnd. His successor will be the company resident in New York, who will reach Melbourne in October.
The Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia, Mr G. M. Huggins, left London on Wednesday for his own country by air. While in London lie had satisfactory discussions on various economic and administrative matters with British Ministers and departmental olllcials.
