) o VON PAPEN AS MINISTER. 1 UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright, VIENNA, August 7. The Austrian Cabinet lias agreed to Ilerr von Papen’s appointment as German Minister in Vienna, and has decided to accept him without conditions. An official statement says:—“Austria will watch with interest how Herr von Papen' interprets his mission, which is supposed to be that of reconciliation of the two countries." It is explained that refusal to aocept Herr von Papen would he almost unprecedented, but he will come to Vienna in the ordinary capacity of a Minister Plenipotentiary. Political circles say that the future relations between Germany and Austria depend entirely upon Germany’* attitude.
LATER. VON PAPEN’S APPOINTMENT. HINDENBURG'S LAST ACT. (Received 'Aug. 9, 9.30 a.m.) 'BERLIN, Aug. 8. . Herr von Papen, who has been appointed German Minister to Vienna, declares: “I accepted the Austrian Ambassadorship in order to aim at relieving European tension. “President Hlndenburg’s last signature was attached to a letter despatching me to Vienna, with the sincere hope of establishing cordial Austro-German relations. “This command is a testament to) which nothing need be added. HelL Hitler!"
