TO MARRY LEWIS SHAW.
SYDNEY GIRL’S ROMANCE. Mrs Boss Gore, of 'Sydney, has received a very amusing cable and some entertaining letters from her daughter, Betty, who has now arrived in England, and is at present staying with her fiancee's people, Mr and Mrs. Hugh Shaw, in Kent, writes a Sydney paper. The Misses Ross Core, Gretchen Borsdorf and Vera Cuthbertson seem to have had a very cheery time on their trip home, playing deck games and invading the swimming pool by day, and to while away their evening hours the Captain fixed up a roulette board, at which they amused themselves gambling with prunes instead of the usual commodity. Just think, if you broke the bank, you would never look a prune in the eye again i Apparently there were also a number of prize birds on board, and one fine day a parrot eluded captivity. Of course, a hectic chase ensued all over the ship, alas! to no avail, for he afterwards disappeared. Another morning, a flying fish came up to visit them from the sea and was with great ceremony deposited in the swimming pool, where his marvellous colours were best seen to advantage. Miss Gore is, of course, very thrilled with London, and excited over her marriage to Mr. Lewis Shaw, •which will take place early in August. Iter fiance, who is at present under contract to the Twickenham film studios, has had an offer from Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer to act in the film “ David Co.pperfleld." Mr. Shaw has twice visited Hamilton, playing leading parts in J. C. Williamson’s production of “ Young Woodley ” and “ Journey’s End."
