DUKE OF GLOUCESTER.

SYDNEY TO BE GAY. RACES AND BALLS. ■nr. A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMME. A special race meeting at Randwick, a visit to the Repatriation General Hospital, a garden party at Government House, and visits to Katoomba, Bathurst, Orange, Grafton, Lismore, Newcastle, Single toil, Muswellbrook, Murrurundi, Tamwortli and Uralia, 'have been arranged for the visit of the Duke of Gloucester during his stay in New South Wales.

Before he left Sydney for Canberra the Minister in charge of the Royal tour arrangements (Mr Marr) refused to confirm or deny any suggestions made to him as to the disposition o! the time of the Duke of Gloucester in New South Wales, and added that, after he had released a general statement, the Premier of each State would he prepared to issue a full itinerary of the tour as planned by local committees.

Minor details of the visit of the Duke to Sydney will be arranged with his personal staff immediately upon his arrival in Perth, but it is understood by interested bodies that these -will make little difference in the general routine of the visit, and that the major dates arranged will he adhered to, unless extraordinary pressure is brought to bear on the Federal Tour ■Committee by Victorian or Queensland interests. To facilitate his country trips in New South Wales, it is anticipated that the Duke will fly wherever possible.

Several station properties, including Gostwyck, the home of Airs Hugh Gordon, and Edenglassie, near Muswellbrook, where Air James White would be host, have been suggested, but it Is still thought in certain circles in Sydney that he will remain close to the city, and might find opportunity to Inspect a detachment of Light Horse on one of these days. Other invitations from public ■bodies and persons desirous of entertaining the Prince will also be submitted to his staff at the same time, but as his stay is so short, it is unlikely that any of them will be accepted. The Programme. Assuming that the tentative itinerary as arranged for final submission to London will ’be accepted, with slight alterations, most public bodies and institutions which will participate actively in the visit have their arrangements well in hand, and after Mr Alarr releases 1 iis statement full delails should be available.
