HAMILTON’S ANNIVERSARY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —August 24 is the seventieth anniversary of the settlement of Hamilton. Are no steps to be taken to celebrate the event in an appropriate manner? It was, I understand, proposed to hold a carnival extending over two or three months, but this has been abandoned, as the public did not evince much sympathy for the project. But surely the event is not to pass- unsung on that account. Possibly a function extending over weeks does not appeal,, but some less cumbersome method can surely be hit upon for celebrating the attainment by the town of its seventhieth birthday. Citizens, wake up i Are you not proud of your city?—l am, etc., SEPTUAGENARIAN. Hamilton, August 8, 1934.
