THE BUILDING SOCIETY. The vacancy in the directorate of the Te Arolia Terminating' Building Society caused hy the death of Mr 11. Petersen, has been filled hy the election of Mr F. \V. Firkin. Transfer to Auckland. Consequent upon the expansion of business throughout Vow Zealand, Messrs. D. McL. Wallace, Ltd., have decided to remove their manufacturing: plant and head office to Auckland, where premises have been secured. The ironmongery business garage and repairing department, will still he retained in Te Arolia. The Municipal Band. The president, Mr D. McMahon, presided at the annual meeting of the Municipal Band. Tho balance-sheet showed receipts £260 11 s• ~cl, and expenditure £204 19s 9d, leaving- a credit of £55 11s lOd. The annual report stated that In the Easter holidays the hand took part In the South Auckland Brass Band contest at Rotorua and xvas successful In winning the Quickstep Shield, and gaining third place in the tost selection. The membership or the band is 30. The committee expressed its appreciation of the assistance given to the hand by the president (Mr D. McMahon), treasurer (Mr J. Kcnnlngton), the Mayor (Mr R. Coulter), Crs. I. Grice and H. J. Pease, and honorary auditor (Mr F. W. Wild), and the ladles’ committee.
