RAID ON CABARET.

SEARCH FOR LIQUOR. “HERE WE ARE AGAIN.” WELLINGTON, Sunday. Greeted by the strains of “ Hero We Arc Again,” played by the orchestra, eight uniformed constables and a senior sergeant of police entered the Crow’s Nest Dance Club's premises, Island Bay, last evening, and, armed with a search warrant, they conducted a diligent search for liquor. The dance hail was fitted with club members and their friends, but flic entry of the police caused little consternation, a rather tense atmosphere being relieved by the resourcefulnesss of the orchestra, which played “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf,” while the ofllcers conducted their search.

The police took lire names of every person present, with a view, it is understood, of checking them with the names appearing on the club membership register, but no attempt was made to sec if any hot ties were secreted in (lie pockets of ’ anyone present. Immediately the police arrived some of llie constables were stationed in the grounds surrounding the club, apparently to sec that no one made his escape while the search was in progress inside. The search extended to llie bedrooms, the cellar, and even the fowlhouse and grounds.
