PEDIGREE PIG SALE
HIGH PRICES FOR CHILCOTT PIGS. The recent sale of pedigree pigs conducted by G. W. Vercoc, Ltd., was notable for the highly satisfactory prices realised for pedigree Tarnworths and 'Rcrkshircs on behalf of Mr 11. Chilcolt, of Franklon, whose pedigree slock is noted for sound commercial type. Up to IGAgns. was realised for maiden Tamworth sows, this price helng paid hy Mr W. Ayers, of Wataroa. The live pigs offered averaged .just on JO guineas. The Tamwotih boars realised up lo ■ I 3 gas. (paid by Mr \V. It. Grant, oi Wellsford) and averaged £8 17s .'id. A Taranaki buyer paid J2sgns. Mr Ghiicoll's Berkshire sows In-pig sold from 9gns. lo lOJgns., and maiden Berkshire sows from 3Jgns. to sgus.
A line of s.elected grade Tamworth sows in pig to Lucerndale Legacy made up to £8 18s Gd, the line averaging 7gns. It is interesting to note the prices realised for the different breeds. Tamworth s sold up to 17Jgns. (paid for maiden Tamworth sow offered hy GJamieson, of Horotiu), lterkshires to iOAgns., Large Whiles lo 7Agns., wliiie grade Tamworth sows made up to £8 :18s Gd. Recorded figures were supplied with the majority of Mr GliilcotL’s entries.
