A friend in Chicago writes me as follows: “ I sent you several copies of the Chicago Tribune lately telling about the new drive over here (backed by the Catholics and a lot of other church people) to clean up the movies. “At last the film moguls are awakening and realising that there is force back of the demand for cleaner and less vulgar films.” To Marry German Film Star. After being imported from Europe for American film starring roles, Lillian Harvey and Fox studio have an-
nounccd mutual dissolution of her contract. Miss Harvey said she expected to return to Europe shortly and take up married life with Willy Fritsch, German stage and screen star. Chevalier as Marshal Ney. Maurice Chevalier is going to play the part of Marshel Ney in his first ■British picture, “ The Marslhal,” a tale of the Napoleonic Wars. Another Movie Divorce. The Mexican film star, Lupe Velez, has filed divorce papers because Johnny Weismuller, former swimming champion and film star, cursed and threw furniture at her. “We are on each other’s nerves unbearably,” she said. “ Life is just one series of quarrels. I told Johnny that as everyone else in Hollywood gels divorced, why shouldn’t we? ”
