PRICE OF PETROL.

REQUEST BY RE-SELLERS. AN INQUIRY RECOMMENDED. (By Telegraph.--Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A request was made to the Prime Minister to-day by the Petrol Resellers’ “Association that the Government should lake steps under the legislation of last session to fix Hie retail price of petrol, as re-sellers at present were unable to carry on business profitably.

Tlie Prime Minister, in reply, suggested that re-sellers should petition the House for an inquiry by a select committee, which would recommend a course of action for Hie Government. Allegations have been made that there were too many petrol pumps, and until the full facts were known ihe Government could not make any regulations fixing the price of any commodity.
