ELLERSLIE FINALS. I ! i ! GOOD TIMES RECORDED. RAY BRONEY IN FINE TRIM. CALLAMART (AND EMANCIPATION. (By Telegraph— c pof , :.ii tn Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. The final gallops for the Great Northern meeting at Ellerslie were held in fine weather. The No. 1 grass was in use and considering the state of the going which was on the holding side, some good times were recorded. The best efforts on the flat yvere those of Gay Broney, Ghief Cook, Iniamint, Supreme Court, Cadland, Leo 'Colossus, Curie, Rebel Star and View Halloo. Among the jumpers Callamart, Emancipation, Imperial Prince, Speakeasy and Biform impressed most. On the No. i grass, Imamint, who had a bit of speed on when she jumped away at the half-mile post, ran home in 50 2-ss, running on solidly at the finish. 'Horowhenua ."and Wee Musk got a two lengths break on Supreme Court at the half-mile post but the last named beat them home in 49 2-ss, Horowhenua taking 50 l-ss. The Best Six. The best effort of the mording over six furlongs was credited to Gay Broney, who beat Hushing by less than a length. He ran the first three furlongs in 38 J-5s and the full distance in 1.17 1-5. Lack and Red. Rufus after covering their first three furlongs in 40s, finished their six furlong trial in 1.20. Lack was slightly in front, though Red Rufus was finishing on nicely. Caaland registered 38 3-5 s for his first three furlongs and came home from the six furlong in i.lB. Jayson was sent oyer a round In 1.58 1-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.36 1-5 and the final half-mile in 545, running on strongly at the end. Lord Val was given an easy task over a round which he ran in 1.2 1-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.38 and the final half-mile in 54 4-ss.

Copyist’s Easy Six. Copyist ran six furlongs in 1.22 1-5. Hunting Jay was slightly in front of Black Songster and Grand Sport after running six furlongs in 1.19 | 3-5. * Leo Colossus beat Charsong by ■several ■ lengths over half-a-mile in 50 l-ss. He hit out very freely. Scarlet Rambler was a shade in front of Monanui after negotiating five furlongs in 1.6. Both shaped well. Curie Goos Well. Curie had Solomon as a companion over five furlongs, and after taking 25 3-5 s for the first two, heat him home in 1.4. Thespis did steady work over a round, the last half-mile being run in 545. The jumpers Pahu and Tudor were timed to run seven furlongs in 1.36 3- the last six taking 1.22. Catoma, Silent Bill and Count Lendroff set out over a round, Catoma finishing about six lengths ahead of Silent Bill with Count Lcndroff about eight lengths further hack. Catoma’s time was 1.56 4-5, the last half-mile taking 53 4-'ss. Prince Colossus and Pango were given a similar task, Prince Colossus finishing half-a-length ahead in 1.56 4- the final half-mile taking 55 4-ss.

West Tor Works Freely. West Tor easily heat Aramis. He worked freely, but was not timed. First Lap was too good for Conference over six furlongs in 1.20 4-5, the last half-mile occupying 51 3-ss. Rebel Star and Silver Streak ran five furlongs in 1.4 3-5 The former was slightly ahead at the finish, but Siver Streak was staying on. Billy Boy was just in front of Snow Prince over a round in 2.0 1-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.39. Both were ridden out. Hunting Cry reeled off three furlongs in 39 4-ss. Chief Cook, who worked alone, sprinted smartly over half-a-mile in 50s. Hounslow and Make Up went over a round in 1.58 3-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.22. There was little between them at the end. View Halloo Woll. The Cornwall Handicap candidate, View Halloo, and Takakua, ran home from the old mile post in 1.46 1-5, the last six furlongs in 1.18 4-5 and the final half-mile in 52 4-ss. View Halloo finished on belter than his companion. The jumpers, Wee Pat (Mcßae) and Kiimuir (E. Manson) were sent over four hurdles on the course proper and got through their task safely in 1.20 3-5. Callamart (G. Thomson), Neil (Mellroy) and Ilauwai (li. E. Thomson) were schooled together over five hurdles on the course proper. They all jumped well and there was little between them at the finish in 2.19 1-5.

Emancipation (Sullivan) and Valpeen (\V. Rennie) were also schooled over four of the same fences. Emancipation heat his companion by a good margin, lie registered 1.23 1-5. Vdorata Destroyed. Ilakanoa (0. Garmonl) and the Te Rapa trained Wcrata (J. Mcßae) set out on a similar task, but Wcrata was pulled up before reciting Hie. second fence, having fractured his stide. lie was destroyed. Ilakanoa finished alone in 1.2 0 3-5. Delrain (L. Dulicu) and Imperial Prince (F. Fergus) worn also associated over four hurdles. loped and covered two rounds on the inside track before he could be pulled up. The pair later went over two hurdles, giving a good display, particularly Gold Knight. Ruling King (Carmont) gave a safe display of fencing over six hurdles in the centre of the course. He did not have much pace on hut improved as he went on. Prince of Orange Fails to Impress. Prince of Orange (J. Day) was sent over four of the same hurdles. He jumped carefully, his display not being at all impressive. Speakeasy (A. Ellis), Biform (F. Thompson) and Royal England (Syme) were associated in a round over the steeplechase course. They fenced safely until reaching the brush fence near the mile post, where Royal Engand came to grief. The other pair continued on over the hill and again took three fences on the flat, both giving a good exhibition. It was Speakeasy’s first trail over these fences and his effort was highly satisfactory.

TE AWAMUTU TRIALS.

A QUIET MORNING. PROTOMINT LOOKS WELL. (Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. The course proper, with the flags 40ft. out, was available for fast work at Te' Awamutu this morning, the going being in good order for this time of the year. Protomint was sent over five furlongs, being assisted over the first two by Arawa Rose. The first two furlongs were covered in 275, Protomint continuing on alone to clock 1.74 for the full distance. Protomint is looking better than ever and providing he jumps away correctly on Saturday liis prospects in the Cornwall are particularly brightLoombination slipped over six furlongs in 1.20. Tuaheahe got to the end of a seven furlong task in 1.34. Safe Bank was going nicely at the end of three furlongs cut out in 39 2-5. Sweet Rose was clocked to run half-a-mile in 565. Solarium was restricted to paca work on the plough.

TE RAPA TO-DAY.

LOCAL HORSES LEAVE. TRADESMAN OVER FIVE. There was little doing at Te Rapa this morning, the only candidate to be sent against the clock being Tradesman, who slipped over five furlongs on the course proper, where the flags were out some 33ft. from the rails, covering the distance in 1.6. Wiltshire (P. McMahon) and Valpai (O. Mclnally) were associated in a strong working gallop over a round in 2.12. Prince of Orange left for Auckland yesterday in charge of A. j. Julian. J: F. Tutchcn's team comprising Cocdon, Englishman, King Ford, Adalcne and Ruby Meteor leave today and Tradesman, Allegretto and I,’Allegro will make the trip tomorrow.
