ENJOYABLE EVENING.
ADDRESS AT LYCEUM CLUB. Mr J. F. Montague, of Auckland, gave a delightful addre-ss at the Lyceum Club on Wednesday evening on “The Beauty of the Spoken Word." The lounge was charmingly arranged with 'howls of lovely dahlias, and a very interesting evening was spent by those present. Other items during 'the evening were: Songs by Mrs lan Stuart and Mr Lirymer, and violin solos by Miss Rowe. A play, “The Young Idea," was enacted by Misses Mavis Langley and Torpy. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Hubert Hammond, Mrs Brymer and Miss Rucroft. Among those present were:—Mesdames Hugh Douglas (president), J. Horton, H. Gillies, J. D. Smith, MaoDiarmid, Annett, Hovey, W. Gifford, Gudex, P. Snell,, J. Vercoe, Vickery, P. Newland, 11. Clark, Blomfleld, Scott (Dunedin), W. Fraser, Strang, Rogers, Holbrook, Merrick, H. Hammond, Brymer; Misses M. Stevens, Fricker, I. Vercoe, G. Eggleston, Ansenne, D. Clark, Hooker, Gallaher, Milroy, M. Valder, Torpy, Rowe, Leek, Rucroft, Eggleston.
