WHITE WOOLLEN SOCKS
After repeated washing, children’s woollen socks sometimes turn a bad colour. It' the socks arc washed in the usual manner and then rinsed in lukewarm water to which has been added a quantity of borax, they will retain their original whiteness. Borax is also an excellent, substitute for soap when washing woollens, as it prevents them from shrinking, in addition to preserving the colour. Do not hang the socks in tiic sun to dry, but put, them in a shady corner of The garden, as the sunshine is inclined to harden the wool.
