CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on their Cambridge Stock salo as follows: Sheep.—A yarding fn the vicinity of 2000 camo forward, including 700 lambs, a fair proportion of which were of fat and forward condition, the balanoe being breeding ewes which though of desirable build and class, were travel-worn and for the most part low fn condition, practically all having just arrived ex-Gisborne. Notwithstanding this, competition was keen, and prioes generally, which were well up to late market rates, were very satisfactory to vendors. There was also a good enquiry for store lambs, while fats maintained ruling rates. In all sections practically a total clearance was effected. We quote:—Medium sorts of 5-year ewes, 17s to 19s 7d; inferior do., 15s 6d to 17s; poorer conditioned 2 and 4-th. ewes 16s 6d to 17s Id; medium mixed age ewes, 17s 6d; low conditioned 4, 6 and 8tooth ewes, 17s Gd to 18s Id; others to 16s; medium fat ewes, 14 s 6d to 16s; others to 14s; medium fat lambs, 17s 6d to 19s Gd; forward do., 15s 6d to 17s; good store lambs, 14s to 15s; medium do., 12s Gd to 13s 6d; smaller do., Its Gd to 12s Gd; inferior up to 10s Gd; medium S.D. rams to ■ijgns. Cattle. —A full entry of mostly plain quality and store cows came forward with a scattering of fat cattle. Competition was steady, and prices showed practically no variation on Frankton rates. A few lieil'er calves did not meet with a very keen enquiry, while the usual entry of potter bulls sold satisfactorily. We quote:—Good quality fat cows, £2 15s to £4 10s; medium do., £3 to £3 12s Gd; lighter do., £2 2s Gd to £2 17s Gd; forward store cows, £l4 to £2; medium do., £1 4s to £i 12s; medium heifer calves to £1 7s; potter bulls up to £4 10s. Pigs.—Though .store and weaneir pies comprised practically ail of a full yarding, the size of the entry did not have any adverse effect on prices, and all were absorbed, with no change in values to report. A few light baconers and heavy porkers also realised prices on a par witli other sales. We quote:—Liglit baconers and heavy porkers, £1 15s to £2 7s; medium porkers, £1 its to £1 14s; light do., £1 8s to £1 I Os; large stores, £1 2s to £1 7s; medium do., 19s to £1 Is; slips, IGs to 18s; large wcaners, 13s | Od to 15s; smaller do., up io 12s Gd; I boars up to £2 7s Gd; sow pigs up to £2 10s.
LONDON MARKETS. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 10, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Tallow. —Market continues quiet, but fair business lias been done in mixed, fair to good at slightly easier prices. Hemp. —Manila: Market quiet and easier on larger production figures, " k " grade for March-May shipment quotedsellers at £l3 15s. Sisal: Market quiet but steady. No. 1 grade for March-May shipment value £l7; for ■\pril-June shipment £l7 2s 6d. New Zealand: Market quiet and small business lias been done In Common Grade at £l3.
