QUESTION OF LIABILITY. RECOMMENDATION BY UNION. (Cs r Telegraph.—moss A'se'CatlonA NELSON, Monday. A motion that tlie basis of liability m collisions on laud be considered similarly to liability for cases of collision at sea was moved by Mr K. D. Sargeant (CantccTfury) at a meeting of (tie South Island Motor Union today. Mr Sargeant said the present basis of claims was not satisfactory. Usually both parlies were partly responsible for collisions, but the one who was less responsible escaped penalty. H 1 lie suggestion was adopted, liability would lie proportional to the blame attachable to the pTrlies concerned. it was decided to refer the matter to all associations and the North j>lfind Union, with a recommendation for endorsement.
