A NEW BRIDGE FOR INDIA. —Over five hundred guests and thousands of spectators attended the opening ceremony of the Ava railway bridge over the Irrawaddy by the Governor 'Of Burma, Sir Hugh Stephenson, on January i. The new bridge has taken six years to complete, is threequarters of a mile long, has cost about £1,125,000. More than 10,000 tons of steel work was used in its construction, and to-day Burma Is proud of one of the greatest bridges in India. The view, taken looking towards the new bridge, shows some of the guests taking refreshments after the ceremony.
