Jonathan’s time for the A ercoe Handicap, of 1.38 3-5, was a record for the track, the previous record of 1.39 being held by Gay Mail gol< established in the Hamilton Handicap last November. A Complaint Dismissed. The judicial committee met after the running of the Flying Handicap hear a complaint by N'. R. McKenzie, the rider of Sinking Fund, who alleged that H. N. Wiggins, the rider of L'Allegro, interfered with his mount at the turn. After hearing the evidence the complaint was dismissed. Saltspray (£509 10s and £320 10s) and Tuaheahe (£305 and £381) commanded most attention, King Win carrying £2Ol 10s for a place and Jalldy Karo £213 tos the same way. Saltspray was Hie first to break the line but when they had settled down Hrmvn Lap was leading Saltspray. Wilton, King Win and Norval Tea. Brown Lap was still in charge or affairs as they raced across the top with Tuaheahe, who had moved up fast, following in front of King Win. Wilton, Norval Tea and Saltspray. Brown Lap was the pilot at the home turn, with Tuaheahe right up and King Win, Saltspray, and Wilton in that order. Saltspray came away to win in decisive fashion by three lengths from Jalldy Karo, who finished on well to beat King Win by two lengths. Tuaheahe was fourth In front or Brown Lap, Trishna, Silver Wattle and Norval Tea. Time, i. 30 3-5.

Early in the proceedings Sinking Fund, who drew the rails, led I.’Allegro, with Star Artist anil Lucidus together. Racing across the. top Lucidus and Star Artist were on terms in front of sinking Fund and L’Allegro. At the home turn Star Artist and Lucidus were still together with Sinking Fund next and L’Allegro closely following. Star Artist, on the rails, looked the winner half-way down Hie running, but site railed to go on with it and L’Allegro on Die outer came through in decisive fashion in win by half a length from Star Artist, with Sinking Fund a similar distance away. Lucidus, the only ether starter, was fourth. Time, 1.13 1-5.

The innovation of handling: win and place tickets at the same selling window proved a great success at Te Ha pa, and il was apparent throughout Hoth days of the meeting that this additional facility was lully appreciated by the public. Early in proceedings the public became educated to what, was expected of them, and the handling of the large volume of betting was made with a minimum of delay. A feature of the meeting, and one that reflected credit on the Ldalisalor staff and responsible opleiats, was the strict adherence paid to the pulnisbed programme.
