AUSTRALIAN BUSH FIRES.
THREE children missing. SURVEY PARTY’S ESCAPE. United Press MELBOURNE, Feb. 11. At Yuulong, in the Princeton district, where numbers of settlers’ homes were burned in bush fires yesterday, three children are missing. The postmistress is giving shelter to several refugees. Reports from many districts in Tasmania reveal that extensive damage has been caused by bush fires. The cast coast is the only part that has escaped. Fears are entertained for several hundred sheep on the Wellwood property, owned by Mr \V. Madden, of Hamilton.
The members of a survey party saved themselves and their instruments by immersing themselves in tha Styx River. j
