RONGOTAI AERODROME. CHARGE FOR LANDING CRITICISED. “DETRIMEENTAL TO AVIATION.” (By Telegraph.— Press Association,) WELLINGTON, Friday. A stir Is being created locally toy the fact that a charge is being made for admission to the Rongotai aerodrome, and that Sir Charles KingsfordSmith is toeing charged £1 for every landing. This Is the regulation charge at the Rongotai drome, it being the property of the comporation and charges are Used by the City Council. The strong feeling is accentuated by the fact that Sir Charles is himself refunding to passengers the charge made for admission. When Mr C. T. P. Ulm was here very few people went Inside the drome, and the same is the case with Sir Charles. The charges are attacked as being out of reason, and definitely destructive to the hopes of the commercial advancement of aviation so far as Wellington is concerned. It is stated that in the rest of New Zealand, and In Australia, a daily charge is made for the use of the ground, fees ranging from £2 2s to £5 ss. A meeting of the reserves committee of the City Council takes place this afternoon and it Is understood the charges at Rongotai will be discussed.
