THEFTS ADMITTED.

AT PATETONGA AND TANIWHA. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. AUCKLAND, Friday. An engineer and habitual criminal, Archibald Andrew Charles Scott, aged 39 was charged in the Police Court yesterday with breaking and entering by day the house of J. H. Cartwright, at Patetonga, on October 28, and stealing groceries, a shot-gun and other articles valued at £l3. He was also charged with breaking and entering by day the house of Mr. A. Eccles, at Taniwha, on October 22, and stealing clothing, groceries and other goods valued at £2 Bs. “I am willing to tell Mr. Cartwright where his goods are ‘planted,’ ” said accused. “He knows the district and would understand my descriptions.” In a statement made by accused to Detective Hunt, he admitted stealing the goods, and said he had hidden them In “swags” in the scrub. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
