THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. BUSINESS OPENS QUIETLY. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday. The Stock Exchange opened quietly, and at the first call only three sales were recorded. Bank of New Zealand shares were steady, with fresh business at 47s 9d. Nationals oT Australasia Were on offer, ordinaries, at £l3 12s 6d and £5 paid shares at £G 12s Gd. Insurances were very firm. Buyers for New Zealands advanced their offers to £2 lbs Od, without attracting holders. Buyers advanced their offers for Devonport Steam Ship shares to £1 Is, and for Mosgicl Woollens lo £9 2s Gd, but in neither case was a seller forthcoming. Refrigerating shares were in demand at 19s Gd for ordinary and 9s 7d for con. Wailiis were asked for at £1 Gs Scl, but the lowest sellers asked £1 7s. Government, storks were in steady demand at late rates. There was good inquiry for local body stock. The Noon Call. q’liero was a good deal of activity at the noon call.
