Concern is felt at the disappearance of Mr William Alfred Bayly, a wellknown resident of the Huntly district, who has been missing from his farm at Ruawaro since an early hour this morning. Mr Bayly was last seen about 8.30 last evening, and it was discovered this morning that he had left a note addressed to his wife. The police have supplied a description of Mr Bayly, which we publish below with their request th%t any persons who can give information reigarding the whereabouts of the missing man will get into immediate communication with the nearest police station: — o , William Alfred Bayly, aged 28 years; or light wiry build; height about oft. 7in. Dark tanned complexion, thin face, brown eyes, dark brown hair, going bald. Slightly bowlegged, with a jaunty walk. The missing man has a peculiarity in one eye—in which eye is not at present known —and a tooth or half-a-tooth is missing from the upper jaw. When last seen he was wearing a navy blue suit, neglige shirt, collar and tie, and light-coloured soft felt hat. In addition he may have been wearing or carrying a light garbadine overcoat. VISIT TO AUCKLAND. MR BAYLY’S MOVEMENTS. early morning departure. FEARS HELD FOR SAFETY. (Special Reporter.) RUAWARO, Friday. The force of police engaged in the search for the body of Mr Samuel Pender Lakey, of Ruawaro, who disappeared on October 16, was diverted to-day to a search for Mr William Alfred Bayly, aged 28, a neighbour of Lakey, who has been missing since an early hour this morning. It has been established that Dir Bayly visited Auckland yesterday, leaving his farm at about 11 a.m. In the city, it is believed, he consulted a well-known Arm of solicitors and returned to Ruawaro in .the evening. Awaking his wife in the early hours of this morning, Mr Bayly kissed her and left the house. Thinking he was going out to milk, Mrs Bayly went to sleep again, and did not arise till her usual time, some hour? later. On entering the kitchen she found a note on the table in which her husband wished her good-bye. She then communicated with the police. Inspector J. W. Hollis, who is in charge of the Investigations at the Lakey farm immediately assigned a force of 40 police to search for Mr Bayley, regarding whose safety grave fears are entertained. ! It is presumed that Mr Bayly took his departure on foot, as his motor-car ils still in the garage, and the farmi horses are in a paddock near the : house. It is believed to be unusual j for him to arise at such an early i hour as he must have done this morn- , iug. * "
