A feature of early morning activity at Te Rapa this morning was a bright six furlong essay on the part of Prolyxo and Star Artist and a dashing half-mile gallop by Limex. The ■course proper with the flags fifteen feet out from the rails was available and the going was in excellent order. Prolyxo (A. Tinker) was half a length' in front of Star Artist (11. Long) at the end of six furlongs cut out in 1.15 1-5, the first three furlongs in 375. Prolyxo had the best of the jump out but Star Artist was soon on terms with her and they were tegether for the greater part of the trip, Prolyxo drawing away from her companion over the final bit. It was a-particularly promising effort on the part of the pair and the time was one of the best recorded on the track for some time. This morning’s trial will increase Prolyxo’s admirers for the open sprint on Saturday at Takapuna. A Bright Half-mile. Limex (Long) from a flying start slipped over half-a-mile in 49Js —a good effort, particularly as she had nothing to assist her. Handily weighted as she is in the open sprint at Takapuna on Saturday, Limex should not fail to give a good account of herself. She is a fit horse at present.* Prince Acre (Chandler) sprinted three furlongs in 37 2-ss. Cargen (Chandler) hit out freely over seven furlongs in 1.33. Hunting Bag (Brady) was worked evenly over a rouqd on the plough. Mls.9 Lulu Galloped. Miss Lulu (Chandler) got to the end of half-a-mile on the plough In 51 '2-ss. Connor) and Curlew (Heka) at ■the conclusion of half-a-mile run in 50 3-ss. Among those to be worked were Calapago, Lion Heart, Sirona, Reilly’s two-year-olds, Julian’s two-year-olds and Brady’s charges. Prolyxo will be ridden in the sprint at Takapuna on Saturday by H. N. Wiggins. As Gay Marigold will, not be starting In the Takapuna Plate, A. Tinker, who was engaged to ride her will now have the mount on Luci*.us. Sinking Fund will be ridden by R. McTavlsh.
