LONDON TO MELBOURNE
GREAT AIR RACE.

The Morning Post states that Captain Neville Stack, the well-known aviator, is arranging to enter for the London to Melbourne air raoe next year in a new British machine with a range of 1200 to 1500 miles. He expects to maintain a speed. of 180 miles an hour. Two leading firms of body-builders and engine-builders have jointly designed an aeroplane which has a maximum speed of 280 miles an hour, a cruising speed of 225 miles an hour and a range of 2500 miles. The cost will be £15,000, but whether it will be entered for the London to Melbourne air raoe in 1934 will depend on the amount of finanoial support forthcoming. The Air Ministry is seoretly testing six new engines, the details of which, in common with other aviation developments, cannot be revealed until the Air Ministry gives permission.
