GARDEN PARTY.

FIRST CHURCH FUNCTION. A very enjoyable garden party was held In connection with First Church on Saturday last, at "Hollyholm, Nawton Hall, the residence of Mr and Mrs Carter. The ladies of INawton Hall joined with those of First Church, and there was a large attendance. The funotion was exclusively a social one, and many old friendships were renewed and new ones formed. The spacious grounds admirably lend themselves to such gatherings. Tennis was enjoyed by enthusiasts of that sport, and competitions were arranged for the other members of the party. The tree and shrub competition was won by Miss Lorraine Rowe and quoiting by Mrs Slade. A sumptuous afternoon tea was provided. The Rev. 6. J. Atkins conveyed the thanks of the ladies and gentlemen present to Mr and Mrs Carter for their kindness. National dances were demonstrated by Miss Daisy Gilmore. Among those present were Mesdames S. J. Atkins, Dynes Fulton TV. Choat, W. Dempster, R- Kay, Elliott, Slade, Morrow, Mundy, Rennie, Chalmers, Forsyth, Stevenson, Lawrence, Harris, Smith, Hogarth, Ken, Carter, McFadden, de' Montalk, Pitman, Breckon, Bendal, Walters, Carter, Misses Dempster, Moore, Stewart, Rowe, Atkins, Choat, Pitman, Parker.
