BEAUTIFYING HAMILTON.
LOCAL SOCIETY MEETS-
reserve on river bank,
At a meeting of the Hamilton Beautifying Society last evening the president, Mr W. 11. Paul, presided. There were present Messrs. G. Morpeth, R. Parr 11. E. Jacka, T. G. Reynolds, 11. Mercer, J. F. Strang, J. H. Edgecumbe and W. G. Pountney. Mr Morpeth reported that ..he had inspected Jubilee Park. He considered that the bush was In excellent condition and there were enough paths laid down, lie did not think any further work was required. Regarding the suggestion of changing the name he thought “reserve” would be. more suitable than “park,” but he had not thought of a suitable name. He had endeavoured to get a suitable 'Maori name, tout had not been successful. Mr Mercer drew the society’s attention to a complaint he had heard that the children’s paddling pool in Parana Park was considered by one mother to be too deep and the sloping sides too steep. It was pointed out that there was never more than one fop, of water in the pool and the chairman add«*l that the slopes would be sanded to make them less slippery. The 'suggestion of erecting suitable bathing sheds on the reserve on the river bank near Boundary Road was left to Messrs. Paul and Pountney with power to act. Several members referred in eulogistic terms to the splendid work on tlie reserve and it was considered that in a few years it would bo one of the prettiest spots in Hamilton.
