VILLAGE SETTLEMENT.
SMALL FARMLET SCHEME. HOUSE CONTRACTS LET. ACTIVITY AT NAPIER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Friday. Contracts have now been let for the erection of 3S residences on an area of 250 acres of the Harbour Board endowment land, for the Napier village .settlement, which has been promoted by the Government under the small farms scheme. The sections on which the homes arc erected ate approximately five acres each. The settlers arc chosen from the ranks of the married. Much work lias already been carried out on the area, including the formation of roads ploughing land, and planting crops, also fencing and sinking artesian wells. The contract time for the completion of the dwellings, each of which is to be constructed to suit (lie, requirements of individual families; is 10 weeks. As a sequel to the letting of the contracts and much work promoted by No. 10 scheme, two sawmills in the disricls have been placed on full time*
