RESERVE BANK BILL.
THE AMENDMENTS. NO MAJOR ALTERATIONS. STATEMENT BY MR COATES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) 'WELLINGTON, Saturday. In a statement Issued to-day the Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, said: , . “in view of the various speculations circulating about possible changes that the Government Is making in the Central Reserve Bank Bill I should like it to be known definitely that no decisions have been arrived at. Many representations have been made to and considered by the Government and the Caucus, but as yet there has been nothing drafted. In faot, after other interested parties have--been consulted another Caucus will be held for the further discussion of any possible changes if these should prove necessary, and desirable. I may say that the bill will remain substantially as first presented as far as its general principles are concerned. There will be no major changes in the method of working the Reserve Bank—the main principles will be there. In the meantime I 'can make no statement regarding any minor alterations, because nothing has been decided upon."
