CHINESE BANDITS.
CAPTURE A TOWN.
JAPANESE HOLD UP TROOPS. FROM DEMILITARISED ZONE. Unitori Press Assn.— Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received Oct. 3, 10.30 a.m.) PEKING, Oct. 2. Bandits continue to spread terror in the Lwan region, where they have now captured Taitouying, a small town North of Funing. After pillaging and firing the houses, the marauders carried off several hundred captives, including women, whom they are holding for ransom. Among the captives are the Chinese members of the foreign mission. Three train special police twice left Tientsin for Lwan, but each time they were refused entry to the demilitarised zone by the Japanese who objected to the arms carried. The Chinese are hastening negotiations with the Japanese because the ravages of the bandits arc daily 'growing worse.
