WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
TAKING WHAT HE CAN GET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Mow does a cocky differ from a farmer? Just what is meant by the term, “cocky?” Professor Murphy raised this point at the Tariff Commission this morning, when Mr J. J. Corry, representing the seed merchants, was giving evidence. “He does differ,” replied Mr Corry. “He has not the farmer’s pluck. He does not farm his own land, but just goes round taking whatever he can get."
