Archbishop Redwood returned to Wellington to-day by the Makura after spending the winder at Brisbane. Mr. Frank Milner, C.M.G., returned to Auckland from Canada and America this morning by the Monowai.

Mr. 11. Mainland has been re-elected president of the Weldngton Employers’ Association for the 11th successive term.

Captain T. Jacobsen and Mr E. Christensen, of the Danish M.S. Victoria, now at Auckland, were visitors to Hamilton over the week-end.

Mr. J. W. Preen, of South Canterbury, has been appointed first president of the newly-formed Dominion Federation of School Committees’ Association.

•Messrs. R. V. McDowell (Wellington), C. U. Best (Auckland), T. 11. Goddard (Dunedin), P. C. G. Garnham (New Plymouth) and A. Murray (Opotiki) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr. E. R. Greenfield, who has been appointed manager of the Majestic Theatre, Auckland, left Hamilton yesterday to take up his new appointment.

Messrs. L. A. Clark, S. Cox, R. E. Martin (Auckland), G. A. Baker, and F. Maxwell are guests at the Empire Hotel.

The Rt. Rev. G. (A. Chcrrington, Bishop of Waikato, addressed members of the Student Christian Union at Auckland University Co lege yesterday afternoon. The Bishop preached in St. Sepulchre's Church last evening.

Before play was commenced on the Whitiora bowling green on Saturday afternoon, the president, Mr J. N. Irvine, made feeling reference to the death of the late Mr A. D. \Valiace, of To Aroha, who was a well-known bowler. The club’s pennant was lowered to half-mast, while the members stood in silence.

Sir Frank Boyd Merriman, SolicitorGeneral, lias been appointed as president of the Probate Divorce and Admiralty division of the High Court in p ace of Lord Merrivale, who Ins resigned the post. Mr. Donald Somervell, M.P., lias been appointed Solicitor-General and a knighthood has been conferred upon him.
