> LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budd, of Balfour M. Irvine and Webster, Ltd., supplies the following observations of the weather: — Barometer. Saturday .... 30.40 Monday 30.40 Thermometer. Max. Min. Friday 61.0 43.0 Sunday 13.0 47.0 The barometer has very little movement and reads 30.40. Indications are for generally fair weather todav with seasonable temperature. Brisk north-easterly winds, followed by unsettled conditions. 3 degrees of frost were recorded this morning. Mean temperature GO degrees. SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. (By Govt. Meteorologist) The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area Is as follows : Forecast: Moderate but freshening scluth - easterly winds. Weather fair to cloudy and cool. Seas moderate. General Inference: A shallow depression crossed the Dominion and passed rapidly eastwards yesterday. It was followed by an intense anticyclone the centre of which is over the South Island. Conditions are still disturbed in north New South Wales. THE RAINFALL. (Recorded at Ruakura.) Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning .OOins. Rainfall for previous 24 hours .001ns. Total for October .OOins. Rainfall for year to date, 34.52in5.
