BANDIT’S HAUL.
IN HEART OF NEWCASTLE. BAG OF MONEY STOLEN. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Sept. 14. While Miss D. Sutton, an employee Of Lord and Fry, produce merchants, Newcastle, was walking along a street this afternoon with 'two other women, on their way to a bank, a man snatched a bag containing £4OO in cheques and £6O in cash, and jumped on to a pui lion seat of a waiting mo tor-cycle and was driven away. . Miss Sutton was accompanied by Mrs Fry, the wife °f one le partners of the Arm, and the latter’s daughter, Mrs Filmer. As they were about to cross King Street, a man who was lounging against the wall, jumped at Miss Sutton, snatched the bag, and in a moment was travelling down Stewart Street at a furious speed on the back of a motor-cycle. The Intersection at which the robbery took place is one of the busiest centres In the,.western end of the city, and a large number of workmen were engaged on alterations to premises on the opposite corner. The bandit made his escape so quickly that there was no hope of giving .chase, but the police are now endeavouring to locate him.
