DEATH OF A GOVERNOR.
SIR GRAEME THOMSON. EXPIRES AT ADEN. CAREER OF PUBLIC SERVICE. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 29. The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister) lias received a telegram informing him that Sir Graeme Thomson, Governor of Ceylon, who was on his way to England, died at Aden on Thursday. Tiie King has sent a message of sympathy to Lady Thomson in his own and the Oueen’s name. Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister in a message of condolence says that Lad) Thomson’s bereavement is shared by llis Majesty’s Government and Hie country, which lias lost a tried and experienced public servant. The news lias been received with universal regret in Ceylon. During the war Sir Graeme Thomson was director of transports and displayed remarkable powers of organisation which were invaluable to the British forces. In 19 17 lie was appointed to the additional post of direel or of shipping. Before being appointed Governor of Ceylon in 1931, Sir Graeme Thomson served as Governor of Nigeria anl British Guiana, lie was 38 years old.
