CRICKET,
HAMILTON EAST CLUB. SUCCESSFUL YEAR RECORDEDA highly successful year is reviewed in the annual, report of the Hamilton East Cricket Club, to be presented at the annual meeting on Thursday night. The club’s senior team regained the championship, and representative honours were gained by G. S. Hampton, H. Going, W. Cassidy, R. Skeet, T. Comer and S. A. R. Badeley. The club had the unique performance of having two members gain places in the Auckland Piunket Shield team, G. S. Hampton and S- A. R. Badeley. The former played in all the shield matches ■but the latter was unable to obtain leave to. travel.
Club batting honours went to Badeley, while three colts, G. Clough, T. Comer and T. Skeet, headed the bowling averages. Practices were well attended in the early part of the season, but showed a tendency to fall off after the new year. The -senior B team performed with credit, finishing third on the championstrip table, continues the report. With a little more consistency this team would probably -have done much better. More conscientious practice would have remedied this.
